In September, rosa roxburghii fruits ripen in Longli County, Qiannan Prefecture, Guizhou Province. Proper fertilization, including timing, fertilizer type and dosage, is critical to the growth and fruiting of rosa roxburghii. GPC has leveraged its strengths in fertilizer R&D and production to develop rosa roxburghii-specific fertilizers, conduct field trials and deliver agrochemical services, transforming its business from simply selling fertilizers to providing on-site farmland services for growers.

Known as “grain for grain crops”, fertilizers underpin modern agriculture. Once wild berries, rosa roxburghii has become a billion-yuan industry in Guizhou. Conventional fertilizers fail to match its unique nutritional needs, causing low fertilizer efficiency and uneven fruit quality. GPC collaborated with research institutions to develop two types of special fertilizers for spring and summer application. The organic-inorganic formula is fortified with medium and trace elements to balance yield and fruit quality.

Field trials have been carried out for two consecutive years, covering over 100 acres of demonstration orchards. A yield assessment conducted on August 26 with experts from Guizhou University recorded a roughly 17% output increase in test plots compared with control plots. Despite extreme weather disrupting this year’s flowering and fruiting, the special fertilizer maintains a similar overall cost to ordinary fertilizers. It boosts productivity through precise nutrient matching rather than increased fertilizer input.

GPC AgroService team guides growers on fertilization practices, such as proper application positions along the canopy drip line. The group extends its offering from fertilizer products to a full set of technical field services. As the rosa roxburghii harvest gets underway in Longli, GPC continues its exploration of scientific fertilization and tailored services to upgrade the local rosa roxburghii industry.
