"We will achieve high-quality development of GPC Group through the progress in four industrial dimensions: intensive utilization of main elements, circular utilization of by-product resources, and cross-border coupled utilization of various elements," said He Guangliang (Gordon He), Secretary of the Party Committee and Chairman of Guizhou Phosphate Chemical Group, at the theme forum "Innovation-Driven Circular Economy, Green Empowerment for Ecological Civilization – Industrial Resource Recycling Aiding Ecological Civilization Construction" during Eco Forum Global Guiyang 2025 on July 6th.

After more than 20 years of exploration and practice, Guizhou Phosphate Chemical Group has established three industrialization paths: production of green building materials from phosphogypsum, cyclic utilization of phosphogypsum for acid production, and production of municipal pipes and packaging materials by combining phosphogypsum with polymer materials.

In terms of producing green building materials from phosphogypsum, the energy consumption for producing phosphogypsum building materials is only one-fourth of that of cement, and the carbon emissions are only one-seventh.

In terms of cyclic utilization of phosphogypsum for sulfuric acid production, Guizhou Phosphate Chemical Group has built the world's largest industrial plant for cyclic utilization of phosphogypsum to produce sulfuric acid and co-produce cement. It can consume 1.4 million tons of phosphogypsum annually, produce 600,000 tons of sulfuric acid, and co-produce 800,000 tons of cement and cement clinker. This plant can reduce sulfur dioxide emissions by 845,000 to 2.145 million tons and carbon dioxide emissions by 600,000 tons per year.

In terms of producing municipal pipes and packaging materials by combining phosphogypsum with polymer materials, Guizhou Phosphate Chemical Group has launched a series of products such as packaging boxes, membrane bags, pipes, and coatings.

"Through innovative process technologies, Guizhou Phosphate Chemical Group has, in June 2025, realized the conversion of phosphogypsum into high-quality anhydrous gypsum in a 100,000-ton-level industrial plant, with better performance and lower cost. It will be able to supply 15 million tons of high-quality anhydrous gypsum annually in the future." said He Guangliang (Gordon He).
