Demonstration Fields of GPC Guides Villagers in Scientific Fertilizer Selection and Application Through Tangible Results
Recently, to thoroughly implement GPC’s paired assistance for the new round of Beautiful Village development, Phosphate Agri-inputs, together with the State Key Laboratory of Green and Efficient Utilization of Phosphate Ore and Associated Resources (hereinafter referred to as the State Key Laboratory), traveled to Qianben Village, Liuchang Town, Xifeng County to host summer fertilization technical training and on-site guidance activities. Precise agricultural technical services were deployed to boost the quality of characteristic agriculture and advance the revitalization of rural industries.

Tailored to the local agricultural realities of Qianben Village and centered on core demands for summer field management, the event delivered special training covering summer maintenance, pest and disease control, and scientific fertilization for Qianben pears, ponkan mandarins, rice and corn. At the training site, professional technicians from the State Key Laboratory elaborated on key summer crop management practices in plain language, taking local climate and soil conditions into account. Focusing on rice and corn cultivation, they explained fertilizer ratios, application rates and application methods for different growth stages, underscoring the vital role of scientific fertilization in enhancing crop stress resistance and raising yields. They also answered a wide range of planting-related questions raised by villagers on the spot.
Following the training, participants visited demonstration fields testing Guizhou Phosphate’s corn fertilizer and rice fertilizer for field inspection. Field observations showed that rice treated with Guizhou Phosphate’s silicon-calcium rice fertilizer generally featured thick, rigid, upright stems, high stress resistance, abundant effective tillers and uniform growth. Corn treated with Guizhou Phosphate’s silicon-calcium-boron-zinc corn fertilizer boasted well-developed root systems, strong drought tolerance, vigorous growth and markedly superior lodging resistance compared with crops in adjacent plots.
Affected by severe local rainstorms, corn fields using other fertilizers suffered lodging of varying degrees. By contrast, corn applied with Guizhou Phosphate’s silicon-calcium-boron-zinc fertilizer remained upright, effectively mitigating yield losses triggered by extreme weather. The tangible outcomes demonstrated the performance of Guizhou Phosphate fertilizers and set a benchmark for villagers to select and apply fertilizers rationally.

It is reported that since 2024, silicon-series special fertilizers developed by the Modern Agriculture Research Team of the State Key Laboratory have delivered remarkable yield increases in trials across Hunan, Sichuan, Yunnan and other provinces. Taking the 2025 regional trial in Yiyang, Hunan as an example:
The silicon-based special rice fertilizer raised early rice yield by 27.9 kilograms per mu (an increase of 8.4%) and late rice yield by 69 kilograms per mu (an increase of 14.3%). The improvements mainly stemmed from a 6.5% rise in grain number per panicle and a 9.2% higher seed setting rate. Meanwhile, soil available phosphorus and available potassium content rose by 22.2% and 3.5% respectively. Total soil cadmium content, as well as cadmium levels in rice straw and brown rice, trended downward. The fertilizers achieve higher yields alongside cadmium reduction and are suitable for large-scale promotion.
Moving forward, the two Party branches will further deepen paired co-construction. In accordance with the technical training plan for assisted cultivation, regular agricultural outreach and farmer-benefiting services will be carried out. The technical and resource advantages will be translated into driving forces for rural development, solidly advancing the development of the Red Beautiful Village initiative in Qianben Village, and helping raise crop production efficiency and farmers’ incomes.
