Guiyang Chemical Fertilizer Hits a New Milestone: Annual Waste Heat Power Generation Exceeds 100 Million kWh
As of October 25, the cumulative annual waste heat power generation of Guiyang Chemical Fertilizer has surpassed 100 million kWh, accounting for 25% of the company’s total electricity consumption. This has cut electricity costs by approximately 60 million yuan, setting an all-time record since the plant was built. The breakthrough marks a landmark achievement in the company’s energy recycling and low-carbon transition.

The upward trend of waste heat power generation has been steady. The output stood at less than 30 million kWh in 2020, exceeded 56 million kWh in 2024, and topped 80 million kWh in 2025. This year, the threshold of 100 million kWh was reached ahead of schedule. The impressive figures stem from Guiyang Chemical Fertilizer’s long-term commitment to by-product resource utilization and cascaded energy use. The enterprise has systematically identified waste heat sources including flue gas, steam and high-temperature materials within the plant. On the basis of two existing 12 MW sulfuric acid waste heat units, two additional 2.6 MW concentration residual pressure units were installed. This creates a combined power generation model integrating sulfuric acid waste heat and concentration residual pressure to fully recover otherwise wasted thermal energy.
Both technical upgrading and refined management help unlock greater power generation potential. The plant dynamically balances steam allocation, adjusts unit parameters in real time according to operating conditions and optimizes unit combination strategies to mitigate the impact of production fluctuations on the power generation system. Meanwhile, automation retrofits for ageing units and regular maintenance and troubleshooting are carried out to improve unit availability and operational stability. Year-to-date waste heat power generation has risen by over 20% year-on-year, with the full-year output projected to reach 125 million kWh.

On-site power self-consumption not only reduces purchased electricity expenditure and energy waste, but also curbs carbon emissions. It provides reliable support for stable operation of production facilities and lays a solid foundation for green factory development, delivering both economic and ecological benefits.
Moving forward, Guiyang Chemical Fertilizer will keep optimizing energy, benefit and environmental performance. Driven by technological and managerial innovation, it will continue advancing high-quality development featuring resource recycling, low-carbon footprint and high efficiency.
