On March 2, the Consulate General of Australia in Chengdu and China GPC held an exchange symposium. Meaghan Shaw (Shao Meizhen), Consul General of Australia in Chengdu, Luo Wen, Research and Visits Officer, Chen Shaoping, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee and General Manager of Wengfu Group under China GPC, and Jiang Hua, Member of the Party Committee and Deputy General Manager, attended the meeting.
The two sides conducted in-depth communication on core topics including the Group’s business layout in Australia, China-Australia free trade cooperation, and future cooperation directions, further consolidating the foundation for cooperation, expanding cooperation channels, and facilitating higher-quality development of both sides in economic and trade fields.

Shao Meizhen affirmed the achievements of China GPC’s business in Australia and briefed the latest background of China-Australia economic and trade cooperation. During Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese’s visit to China in 2025, China and Australia reached a number of cooperation consensuses. 2025 also marks the 10th anniversary of the entry into force of the China-Australia Free Trade Agreement (ChAFTA). Taking this opportunity, the two sides signed a Memorandum of Understanding on the Implementation and Review of the China-Australia Free Trade Agreement witnessed by the leaders of the two countries, launching the overall review of the Agreement and providing a higher-level institutional guarantee for bilateral economic and trade cooperation.

During the exchange, Shao Meizhen focused on the Group’s supply chain and market conditions in Australia, stating that Australia would fully support the development of China GPC’s business in the country.
Chen Shaoping noted that the Group has been serving the local market continuously for 16 years since entering the Australian market in 2010, with smooth certification procedures and a stable supply chain over the years. In the future, the Group will continue to stabilize its business in Australia, further expand the sales scale of other chemical products in the Australian market, actively explore opportunities for expanding other products in Australia, and continuously deepen cooperation with the Australian market.

It is reported that the Consulate General of Australia in Chengdu was established in 2013, responsible for affairs in Sichuan, Chongqing, Yunnan and Guizhou. It works with the investment and trade departments under the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade to promote in-depth cooperation between China and Australia in trade, investment, tourism, agriculture, climate change and other fields.

Relevant personnel from the Foreign Affairs Office of Guizhou Province and Wengfu International Trade also attended the meeting.
