GPC Gradually Expands Its New‑Energy‑Material Industrial Layout

    Kaiyang County has recently released the environmental impact assessment (EIA) filings for two major projects: a 600,000‑ton‑per‑annum high‑performance iron phosphate project and a 600,000‑ton‑per‑annum high‑compaction lithium iron phosphate (LFP) project.

    Signed in January 2025 and commenced construction in April the same year, the projects constitute the core component of the phosphorus‑sulfur‑titanium‑copper‑iron‑lithium‑fluorine co‑production complex. The overall complex is planned with the following capacities: 1.6 million tons of iron phosphate, 1.2 million tons of lithium iron phosphate, 1.4 million tons of ferrous sulfate heptahydrate (co‑produced with 400,000 tons of titanium dioxide), 150,000 tons of lithium carbonate, 10,000 tons of lithium fluoride, 20,000 tons of lithium hexafluorophosphate and 100,000 tons of copper smelting output. Supporting facilities include phosphogypsum‑decomposition‑based sulfuric acid production and cogeneration of heat and power.

 

    Phosphorus serves as one of the raw materials for lithium iron phosphate. Endowed with phosphoric‑acid production capacity, GPC extends its industrial chain downstream to manufacture iron phosphate and lithium iron phosphate. Together with the commissioned 50,000‑ton LFP and 60,000‑ton iron phosphate projects in Xifeng County and the phosphorus‑chemical base in Fuquan, the Kaiyang projects form a complete industrial chain stretching from phosphate ore to new‑energy battery materials.

 

    GPC ranks first nationwide and among the world’s top three enterprises in phosphate‑ore mining‑beneficiation and phosphate‑compound‑fertilizer capacity. Its products are exported to more than 100 countries and regions worldwide. The launch of the Kaiyang projects will further consolidate Guiyang’s industrial foundation for new‑energy battery materials. For overseas clients, it sends a clear signal: GPC is no longer merely a producer of phosphate fertilizers and phosphates. It is broadening its footprint and scaling up capacity in the new‑energy‑materials sector.
