Guizhou Phosphate Chemical Group Goes All-in for Green Development
When it comes to environmental protection, Guizhou Phosphate Chemical Group (hereinafter referred to as GPC) has always gone all-out for green development. Taking the synergistic effect of pollution reduction and carbon abatement as the focus, GPC has comprehensively promoted the comprehensive treatment of waste gas, waste water and industrial residue (the "three wastes"). Particularly, it has achieved breakthroughs in the global challenge of phosphogypsum resource utilization, forging a green development path featuring resource conservation, environmental friendliness and remarkable economic benefits. This has provided a replicable and scalable GPC Solution for the transformation and upgrading of China’s phosphorus chemical industry.

The comprehensive utilization of phosphogypsum is a common challenge for the global phosphorus chemical sector. As early as 2005, GPC launched research in this field. After more than 20 years of continuous efforts and a total investment of nearly 4 billion yuan, the Group has built six major utilization routes: cement retarder, underground backfilling, ecological restoration, new building materials, decomposition for sulfuric acid co-production with cement, and polymer materials. It has formed a phosphogypsum resource utilization system based on circular resource coupling.
From 2024 to 2025, with an investment of over 500 million yuan, the Group built 6 large-scale harmless treatment facilities, enabling 100% harmless treatment of newly increased phosphogypsum across its six major production bases. Through technological innovation, GPC has put into operation the world’s largest industrial facility for acid production from phosphogypsum with co-production of cementitious materials, which can annually utilize 1.4 million tons of phosphogypsum, co-producing 650,000 tons of sulfuric acid and 800,000 tons of cementitious materials. This has organically integrated large-scale phosphogypsum consumption and resource recycling.

Meanwhile, the world’s first annual 300,000-ton high-temperature anhydrite production line has been completed. The packaging products developed from it have successfully entered international markets including Australia and Saudi Arabia, driving the high-value utilization of phosphogypsum.
In the comprehensive treatment of the "three wastes":
GPC has invested more than 1.3 billion yuan to build sewage treatment facilities with a total capacity of 50,000 cubic meters per hour. Water quality at state-controlled sections of the Chong’an River and Wujiang River has stably met Class III standards.
In waste gas treatment, advanced technologies such as low-temperature catalysis and hydrogen peroxide combined with electric demisting desulfurization have been adopted, making pollutant emission concentrations far better than national standards.
For 32 other types of solid waste including mining rock and mineral processing tailings, a whole-process dynamic supervision system has been established.
Based on continuous upgrading of end-of-pipe treatment, the Group has further extended green development to the source and vigorously advanced energy conservation and the "dual carbon" goals.

To further consolidate the "dual carbon" achievements, GPC has accelerated the adjustment of its energy structure and vigorously developed clean energy. It has consumed a total of 394 million kWh of green electricity and obtained 394,000 green certificates. The Group has also pressed ahead with product carbon footprint certification, having secured carbon footprint assessment certificates for 19 products. Meanwhile, photovoltaic projects are being implemented in an orderly manner. It plans to build approximately 100 MW of photovoltaic power stations by 2028 to further raise the proportion of clean energy consumption.
Standing at a new historical starting point, GPC will promote ecological and environmental protection with higher standards, stricter requirements and more practical measures, contributing to the comprehensive green transformation and the joint construction of a Beautiful China.
