GPC Supports Autumn Harvest: Kailin Fertilizer’s Intermodal Transport Guarantees Autumn Agricultural Supplies

    Since the official launch of intermodal transport orders by Kailin Fertilizer, a subsidiary of Guizhou Phosphate Chemical Group (GPC), nearly 4,000 tons of chemical fertilizers had been delivered as of September 1. This marks the first adoption of the “highway + railway + waterway” intermodal transport model by the production system for the 2026 autumn supply guarantee campaign. The collaborative transportation network greatly cuts transit waiting time, achieving dual improvements in operational efficiency and cost control, and unblocking the transportation chain for agricultural supplies during the critical autumn harvesting and sowing period.

    Currently, multiple regions across China are in a critical window for autumn and winter farming, with rising market demand for chemical fertilizers and urgent outbound supply guarantee tasks for agricultural materials. Restricted by tight road transport capacity and high long-distance transportation costs, traditional highway delivery fails to meet the peak-season supply demand for large-quantity fertilizer shipments.

 

    Targeting the large shipment volume and long transportation chain of this batch of orders, Kailin Fertilizer adopts the highway-railway-waterway intermodal model, coordinates cross-post collaborative operations, implements full-process management responsibilities, and effectively breaks through the outbound transportation bottleneck of agricultural materials.


    To ensure seamless connection of all transport links, the Logistics Operation Department of Kailin Fertilizer made advance arrangements to complete pre-storage preparations including cargo stocking and site sorting. The special freight team actively connects with railway departments, sorts out operational bottlenecks across the whole process, and optimizes container filling, loading and handover procedures, significantly improving container filling efficiency and cargo turnover speed.


    Given that intermodal transport involves multiple transit links and long cycles, which may cause quality risks such as cargo dampness and contamination due to weather and other factors, the company adopts forward quality control and strictly controls the first step of container loading. Before loading, all containers undergo comprehensive hazard inspection, focusing on rectifying container damage, poor sealing, internal dampness and residual sundries. Defective containers are repaired or replaced in a timely manner, securing fertilizer quality from the source.
